What is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative medicine is the holistic, individualized, evidence-based healthcare that seeks root causes of diseases, syndromes and general lack of well-being, and heals from the inside out. It incorporates conventional "mainstream" medicine with evidence-based complementary therapies that focus on the whole person. The focus is off of the system or the provider and instead centered on the individual receiving the care. This entails a partnership between the provider and the patient (client). All areas of health are included organically, including nutrition, exercise, body work, mindfulness (spirituality or religion), focus on achieving "normal" body functions, and setting realistic goals.
